Thoughts for today from Amber...

So, tonight I had supper at a pot-zzeria.

Maybe I ought to elaborate on that. You see, Dad and I were going for dinner, and I wanted Italian. So we went over to the Fazoli's in Greenwood, and we noticed a little strip mall behind it where there was a sign that read, "Massey's Pizza." Dad gave me the choice: Fazoli's, or Massey's? I picked Massey's because we'd never been there before and I wanted to try something different. So we walked in and ordered the buffet, paid our tab, and sat down to eat at a table where we could see the Channel 13 news that was on TV. About halfway through the meal, the Channel 13 version of this article came on the news.

For those of you who didn't click the link, that article basically said that owner of the Massey's that we were dining at had been recently arrested for selling marijuana and illegal alcohol out of his pizzaria.

Dad and I froze, looked at each other, then glanced toward the kitchen. I asked him if we should keep eating, and he said that he'd paid for this food and besides, they wouldn't waste their pot by putting it on the pizza anyhow.

When we finished eating, we headed to the car and were intercepted by a sharply dressed man with a microphone. He told up that he was with the Channel 6 news, and asked us if we'd like to comment (apparently he and Dad had seen each other when the news story came on, and shared a moment of wide-eyed panic too). Dad said no, thank you, and off we went.

Oh. My. God. Readers, I have never been more terrified of making eye contact than when the man who took our orders happened to look my way immediately following that news article.

I may never stop hyperventilating.

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Welcome back, dear Readers! School has started up again in lovely Greenwood, Indiana, and yours truly is finally a senior!

But first, summer vacation. My family went out west to see the Grand Canyon. Now, maybe you've been there before, or maybe not, but believe me when I say that you have GOT to get out there at least once in your life. I was a skeptic the whole way there ("It's a big hole in the ground. This is so stupid. Why are we driving 1600 miles for a big freaking HOLE?!") but when we finally got there... WHOA. It takes a lot to render me speechless, but there you have it.

Also, I went to see Brave and Ice Age: Continental Drift. I recommend them both, as they are terrifically funny.

Now then, back to my being a senior.

Yeah, so I'm thrilled.

The classes are okay, though Calculus may be a bit difficult, and Biology II is supposed to have a pretty large work load. Other than those two, though, I think it's going to be a pretty good year. Wish me luck!

WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!
Ah, yes, my faithful readers. It's that time of year again--the last day of school. In just a few short hours, I will be a senior! I'd like to go ahead and say goodbye for awhile, as I'll be heading out on vacation (where I'll be unable to post) at the start of next week. Till next time, my friends!

Okay, so if you haven't heard of Rube Goldberg, I highly reccomend checking out this website before you read my post, or it won't really make sense. rubegoldberg.com

Good. Now that you're educated, I'll explain. In my physics class, we have been instructed to construct a Rube Goldberg contraption with no less than five steps that will end up breaking an egg. Seems simple enough, right?

WRONG.

Thus far, my group has only created a basic design for our contraption (we haven't even begun to build it) and the big presentation is due on Friday.

Can anyone else say, "EEK!!!"?
That was pretty great, faithful readers. The sound was, for the most part, fantastic. Tears were shared and hugs did flow, especially during the last song, Benediction. Thoughts for today from Amber...

Hello again, my faithful readers! Tonight I log on to share the news of tonight's GHS Spring Choir Concert. It is our last concert of the year, and will feature each of the three choirs--Rhapsody, Jade, and Singsations--as well as a few solos in between--one by Allie Ochs, and another by yours truly!--and even a special Senior Song (it'll be Bon Jovi's Livin' On a Prayer, if you want to know). My song is The Impossible Dream, from the musical Man of La Mancha (which is based on Cervantes' classic novel, Don Quixote de la Mancha).

Woohoo! So tonight at Whiteland High School, GHS is competing in their third academic team meet. Competition categories include Science, Math, English, History, Arts, and Interdisciplinary. I don't know much about the other categories, but since my dad (Mr. Perry) coaches the Science team, I know that they came in second for the first meet, and won last time.

C'mon, Woodmen! Let's kick some academic butt!
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475464218251698592.post-85562828574515911132012-04-11T04:53:00.002-07:002012-04-11T04:56:16.032-07:00The Polyphonic Spree
Thoughts for today from Amber...
Okay, so I've not actually overcome the writer's block yet, but I found a video segment that I made for my Broadcast class that I think you'll enjoy. By the by, the reason it says "WAM" at the end is because the name of our Broadcast team is "Woodmen A.M."

I should also note that the actor in this segment is my dear little brother, Austin Perry. He's nine and kind of a diva, as actors go. Cute, though, right?
Very, very bad.
I actually don't know what to write.
I'm freaking out over here, my dear readers!
I mean, I can't get writer's block. I just can't. I'm The Writer. Seriously, that's how I define myself! What am I supposed to do if I can't think of what to write?!
Thoughts for today from Amber...

Wow, it's been quite a while since I posted! Let's see. Tonight is the school's annual talent show, Cabaret. My dad (the school's Chem/Physics teacher) is going to be performing, though I was rejected. Not that I'm bitter. Or even remotely upset. Nope. Totally calm over here.

Okay, so maybe it bugs me a little. Still, I'm not going to obsess about it. I got that over with the night the list (without my name) got posted. Tonight I'm just going to watch the show, and it's going to be awesome, I'm sure. :)

Anyway, I don't know everybody who's going to perform, but I'll see who all I can remember. Hannah Miller. Mr. Williams (the English teacher) and Katie Karr are doing a duet. Ummm... Haley Boland. Luke Garrigus (sorry if I spelled that wrong!). I think Nathan Sheryak is doing something... If I remember, I'll post again later tonight or tomorrow and update who all was actually there. Till then--bye!
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475464218251698592.post-56625325273955349702011-12-21T04:27:00.000-08:002011-12-21T04:27:11.479-08:00The Final Final Prayer
Thoughts for today from Amber...

Dear God,
This is the last prayer I can send about finals. Your tornado, which I requested yesterday, did not come. Nor did the blizzard I asked for the day before. Today, however, I'm asking for something much simpler, for your convenience: ICE. It's already cold, and it was raining earlier, so all you have to do is cool it down a few more degrees in time to cancel my Trig, Spanish, and Choir finals today. Easy as pie.
Also, there was no Damien McGinty, like I asked for. So now I want the cute waiter from the Mexican restaraunt down the road. Easy as pie, again. No celebrities, just a cute Mexican waiter.
Thanks!
Love, Amber.
Amen.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475464218251698592.post-15949393113992432032011-12-20T04:41:00.000-08:002011-12-20T04:41:31.349-08:00Another Final Prayer
Thoughts for today from Amber...

Dear God,
Maybe you didn't hear me yesterday. Maybe you were out of instant blizzards. Whatever the reason, I had to take my Physics and History finals yesterday. Also, I recieved no Michael Buble. Not a good day for me.
So today I have a new request: tornados. Please send a massive tornado to whisk me off to Oz, where they presumably don't have English or Journalism finals.
Also, I'd like a Damien McGinty.
Thank you!
Love, Amber.
Amen.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475464218251698592.post-18342185311505238232011-12-19T04:19:00.000-08:002011-12-19T04:19:11.594-08:00Finals and a Prayer
Thoughts for today from Amber...

Dear God,
As you may know, today I have my Physics final. I also have my History final. As you may also know, these happen to be my two worst subjects. How exactly they managed to fall on the same day of testing, I do not know, but I'M FREAKING OUT.
Normally, I'd be asking for a little divine help. You know, expand my brain a little to help my testing ability. But, God, I'm not sure that'll do it today. See, I forgot to study last night, so testing ability might not cut it.
Instead, I am requesting that you drop a sudden blizzard over Indiana. Please shut down school until after Christmas.
Also, if you have any extra Michael Buble-s hanging around that you don't need, I'll take one off your hands.
Love, Amber.
Amen.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475464218251698592.post-17918493483251117372011-12-13T04:10:00.000-08:002011-12-13T04:10:24.830-08:00Get Effin Back on Facebook!
Thoughts for today from Amber...

Okay. On the way to school today, I was listening to Bob and Tom. One of the news stories was about a town in Ireland deemed "inappropriate" by Facebook, and is being blocked. Name of the town? Effin. Seriously. Effin, Ireland. That's not inappropriate. Funny, sure, but that's legitimately the name of the town! Come on, people. Tell your friends. Tell your friends' friends. (And so on, obviously.) Let's get Effin back on the map!
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475464218251698592.post-4838888435124036032011-12-12T04:23:00.000-08:002011-12-12T04:23:41.040-08:00Been a While
Thoughts for today from Amber...
Hey, everybody. So I've been sort of grumbling a lot to myself lately, like, "Why don't I have any followers? Why doesn't anybody like my blog?" and other needy grumblings. Yes, this is another Needy Amber post. I can't help it. I'm needy. So, my little brother has pnemonia. It's been pretty bad, and he's missed four days of school, not counting the two we got off for Thanksgiving. He's still sick, too. I'm a bit worried, but he doesn't ACT sick-- he's just got this fever and he coughs from time to time. I'm not really sure what to do about it; I've been trying to keep my distance so I don't get sick, though.
Okay, first of all. If you haven't seen the play Harvey, which I mentioned last Friday, GO FIND IT. I couldn't stop laughing ALL NIGHT. Basically, the play is about a man named Elwood whose best friend is a pooka, which appears to him in the form of a six-foot-one-and-a-half-inch white rabbit named Harvey. Harvey is invisible to everyone but Elwood, and the play is centered around Elwood's sister trying to commit him to a mental hospital. Much hilarity ensues, including the accidental committing of Elwood's sister rather than Elwood himself.

Everyone at GHS who helped to put on this play has my eternal respect and fandom, particularly Nathan Sheryak, Mallory Ward, Hannah Miller, A.J. Vleck, and the big empty space that played Harvey. If I tried to list everybody that was in the play, this entry would be much too long, so you all know who you are.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475464218251698592.post-69223760313008221312011-11-18T11:43:00.000-08:002011-11-18T11:43:20.695-08:00Harvey
Thoughts for today from Amber...
WOO!!! Go GHS Drama Department! Tonight I'll be attending the school's rendition of Harvey, starring several of my friends and being lit, costumed, and stage-crewed by even more. I'll get a review on here ASAP, but probably not until Monday. So, to all my theatre friends: BREAK THOSE LEGS!!!
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475464218251698592.post-2707501952983245472011-11-17T03:54:00.000-08:002011-11-17T03:54:28.634-08:00Youtube > Radio
Thoughts for today from Amber...
Okay, so unless you live under a rock (or possibly in another country; sorry, my Out-Of-America readers), you've most likely heard The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars. It's a good song; it's got a fun hook and a good beat. Still, you haven't fully enjoyed the song until you've watched the music video! I saw it last night--yes, I know I'm behind on the trends again--and I swear I almost died laughing. It was truly hysterical, and even more impressive since they did the entire video in one take (for you non-film junkies, that means they didn't stop filming or do multiple locations or anything. It was done almost like a play)! Watch it, and I dare you not to laugh.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475464218251698592.post-13516266848730216762011-11-14T04:07:00.000-08:002011-11-14T04:07:18.743-08:00*Yawn*
Thoughts for today from Amber...

Yeah, I'm having a Nerd-a-thon today. Buffy the Vampire Slayer followed by ANGEL followed by NUMB3RS. And then probably Scrubs. And Big Bang Theory.

All while I play Pokemon.

And I'm wearing my Gir sweatshirt.

11-11-11 is going to be fun.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14296551076317221390noreply@blogger.com0
