My Pizza Debacle

Thoughts for today from Amber...

So, tonight I had supper at a pot-zzeria.

Maybe I ought to elaborate on that. You see, Dad and I were going for dinner, and I wanted Italian. So we went over to the Fazoli's in Greenwood, and we noticed a little strip mall behind it where there was a sign that read, "Massey's Pizza." Dad gave me the choice: Fazoli's, or Massey's? I picked Massey's because we'd never been there before and I wanted to try something different. So we walked in and ordered the buffet, paid our tab, and sat down to eat at a table where we could see the Channel 13 news that was on TV. About halfway through the meal, the Channel 13 version of this article came on the news.

For those of you who didn't click the link, that article basically said that owner of the Massey's that we were dining at had been recently arrested for selling marijuana and illegal alcohol out of his pizzaria.

Dad and I froze, looked at each other, then glanced toward the kitchen. I asked him if we should keep eating, and he said that he'd paid for this food and besides, they wouldn't waste their pot by putting it on the pizza anyhow.

When we finished eating, we headed to the car and were intercepted by a sharply dressed man with a microphone. He told up that he was with the Channel 6 news, and asked us if we'd like to comment (apparently he and Dad had seen each other when the news story came on, and shared a moment of wide-eyed panic too). Dad said no, thank you, and off we went.

Oh. My. God. Readers, I have never been more terrified of making eye contact than when the man who took our orders happened to look my way immediately following that news article.

I may never stop hyperventilating.

Rube Goldberg Project

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Okay, so if you haven't heard of Rube Goldberg, I highly reccomend checking out this website before you read my post, or it won't really make sense. rubegoldberg.com

Good. Now that you're educated, I'll explain. In my physics class, we have been instructed to construct a Rube Goldberg contraption with no less than five steps that will end up breaking an egg. Seems simple enough, right?

WRONG.

Thus far, my group has only created a basic design for our contraption (we haven't even begun to build it) and the big presentation is due on Friday.

Can anyone else say, "EEK!!!"?

Spring Concert

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Hello again, my faithful readers! Tonight I log on to share the news of tonight's GHS Spring Choir Concert. It is our last concert of the year, and will feature each of the three choirs--Rhapsody, Jade, and Singsations--as well as a few solos in between--one by Allie Ochs, and another by yours truly!--and even a special Senior Song (it'll be Bon Jovi's Livin' On a Prayer, if you want to know). My song is The Impossible Dream, from the musical Man of La Mancha (which is based on Cervantes' classic novel, Don Quixote de la Mancha).

I'm so excited, faithful readers! Wish me luck, and hopefully I'll blog again later to tell how it went.

The Final Final Prayer

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Dear God,
This is the last prayer I can send about finals. Your tornado, which I requested yesterday, did not come. Nor did the blizzard I asked for the day before. Today, however, I'm asking for something much simpler, for your convenience: ICE. It's already cold, and it was raining earlier, so all you have to do is cool it down a few more degrees in time to cancel my Trig, Spanish, and Choir finals today. Easy as pie.
Also, there was no Damien McGinty, like I asked for. So now I want the cute waiter from the Mexican restaraunt down the road. Easy as pie, again. No celebrities, just a cute Mexican waiter.
Thanks!
Love, Amber.
Amen.

Another Final Prayer

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Dear God,
Maybe you didn't hear me yesterday. Maybe you were out of instant blizzards. Whatever the reason, I had to take my Physics and History finals yesterday. Also, I recieved no Michael Buble. Not a good day for me.
So today I have a new request: tornados. Please send a massive tornado to whisk me off to Oz, where they presumably don't have English or Journalism finals.
Also, I'd like a Damien McGinty.
Thank you!
Love, Amber.
Amen.

Finals and a Prayer

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Dear God,
As you may know, today I have my Physics final. I also have my History final. As you may also know, these happen to be my two worst subjects. How exactly they managed to fall on the same day of testing, I do not know, but I'M FREAKING OUT.
Normally, I'd be asking for a little divine help. You know, expand my brain a little to help my testing ability. But, God, I'm not sure that'll do it today. See, I forgot to study last night, so testing ability might not cut it.
Instead, I am requesting that you drop a sudden blizzard over Indiana. Please shut down school until after Christmas.
Also, if you have any extra Michael Buble-s hanging around that you don't need, I'll take one off your hands.
Love, Amber.
Amen.
