The Final Final Prayer

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Dear God,
This is the last prayer I can send about finals. Your tornado, which I requested yesterday, did not come. Nor did the blizzard I asked for the day before. Today, however, I'm asking for something much simpler, for your convenience: ICE. It's already cold, and it was raining earlier, so all you have to do is cool it down a few more degrees in time to cancel my Trig, Spanish, and Choir finals today. Easy as pie.
Also, there was no Damien McGinty, like I asked for. So now I want the cute waiter from the Mexican restaraunt down the road. Easy as pie, again. No celebrities, just a cute Mexican waiter.
Thanks!
Love, Amber.
Amen.

Another Final Prayer

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Dear God,
Maybe you didn't hear me yesterday. Maybe you were out of instant blizzards. Whatever the reason, I had to take my Physics and History finals yesterday. Also, I recieved no Michael Buble. Not a good day for me.
So today I have a new request: tornados. Please send a massive tornado to whisk me off to Oz, where they presumably don't have English or Journalism finals.
Also, I'd like a Damien McGinty.
Thank you!
Love, Amber.
Amen.

Finals and a Prayer

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Dear God,
As you may know, today I have my Physics final. I also have my History final. As you may also know, these happen to be my two worst subjects. How exactly they managed to fall on the same day of testing, I do not know, but I'M FREAKING OUT.
Normally, I'd be asking for a little divine help. You know, expand my brain a little to help my testing ability. But, God, I'm not sure that'll do it today. See, I forgot to study last night, so testing ability might not cut it.
Instead, I am requesting that you drop a sudden blizzard over Indiana. Please shut down school until after Christmas.
Also, if you have any extra Michael Buble-s hanging around that you don't need, I'll take one off your hands.
Love, Amber.
Amen.

Get Effin Back on Facebook!

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Okay. On the way to school today, I was listening to Bob and Tom. One of the news stories was about a town in Ireland deemed "inappropriate" by Facebook, and is being blocked. Name of the town? Effin. Seriously. Effin, Ireland. That's not inappropriate. Funny, sure, but that's legitimately the name of the town! Come on, people. Tell your friends. Tell your friends' friends. (And so on, obviously.) Let's get Effin back on the map!

Been a While

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Hey, everybody. So I've been sort of grumbling a lot to myself lately, like, "Why don't I have any followers? Why doesn't anybody like my blog?" and other needy grumblings. Yes, this is another Needy Amber post. I can't help it. I'm needy. Anyway, I haven't posted in a while and will try to pick back up on the posting, but it'd really encourage me to post more if SOMEONE would follow me.

Pnemonia and Other Unpleasantness

Thoughts for today from Amber...

So, my little brother has pnemonia. It's been pretty bad, and he's missed four days of school, not counting the two we got off for Thanksgiving. He's still sick, too. I'm a bit worried, but he doesn't ACT sick-- he's just got this fever and he coughs from time to time. I'm not really sure what to do about it; I've been trying to keep my distance so I don't get sick, though. Is that bad of me?

Sweet Sixteen

Thoughts for today from Amber...

One more thing. Happy Birthday, me! Yeah, I'm sixteen today. It's pretty cool, and I've gotten basically everything I wanted. It rocks. ^-^

Harvey

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Okay, first of all. If you haven't seen the play Harvey, which I mentioned last Friday, GO FIND IT. I couldn't stop laughing ALL NIGHT. Basically, the play is about a man named Elwood whose best friend is a pooka, which appears to him in the form of a six-foot-one-and-a-half-inch white rabbit named Harvey. Harvey is invisible to everyone but Elwood, and the play is centered around Elwood's sister trying to commit him to a mental hospital. Much hilarity ensues, including the accidental committing of Elwood's sister rather than Elwood himself.

Everyone at GHS who helped to put on this play has my eternal respect and fandom, particularly Nathan Sheryak, Mallory Ward, Hannah Miller, A.J. Vleck, and the big empty space that played Harvey. If I tried to list everybody that was in the play, this entry would be much too long, so you all know who you are.

Harvey

Thoughts for today from Amber...

WOO!!! Go GHS Drama Department! Tonight I'll be attending the school's rendition of Harvey, starring several of my friends and being lit, costumed, and stage-crewed by even more. I'll get a review on here ASAP, but probably not until Monday. So, to all my theatre friends: BREAK THOSE LEGS!!!

Youtube > Radio

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Okay, so unless you live under a rock (or possibly in another country; sorry, my Out-Of-America readers), you've most likely heard The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars. It's a good song; it's got a fun hook and a good beat. Still, you haven't fully enjoyed the song until you've watched the music video! I saw it last night--yes, I know I'm behind on the trends again--and I swear I almost died laughing. It was truly hysterical, and even more impressive since they did the entire video in one take (for you non-film junkies, that means they didn't stop filming or do multiple locations or anything. It was done almost like a play)! Watch it, and I dare you not to laugh.

*Yawn*

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Oh my GOD I'm tired... I just couldn't fall asleep last night! Got maybe 2-3 hours maximum of sleep, which major-sucks compared to my usual 8-9 hours... Anyway, I was kind of thinking about the whole Zodiac thing, so here's a list of all the signs and what they mean about you as a person. For the record, I'm a Scorpio.

Aries - March 21 - April 20:  Active, intelligent, powerful, impulsive, irritable
Taurus - April 21 - May 2:  Clever, self-confident, tactful, sociable, intelligent
Gemini - May 22 - June 21:  Scholarly, polite, critical, shy, reserved
Cancer - June 22 - July 22:  Independent, harsh, unhappy, sickly, expert
Leo - July 23 -August 21:  Stubborn, strong, independent, humanitarian, generous
Virgo - August 22 - September 23:  Poet, scholarly, artistic, good memory, reserved
Libra - September 24 - October 23:  Tactless, arrogant, wicked, frank, pompous
Scorpio - October 24 - November 22:  Adventurous, bold, reckless, stubborn, impulsive
Sagittarius - November 23 - December 22:  Intense, reliable, happy, short-tempered, musician
Capricorn - December 23 - January 20:  Active, humorous, witty, stubborn, meddlesome.
Aquarius - January 21 - February 19:  Honest, loyal, artistic, poetic, self-esteem
Pisces - February 20- March 20:  Honest, unselfish, trustworthy, peaceful, gullible

So, it got me almost exactly. Anybody else?

Heywood Banks

Thoughts for today from Amber...

I forgot to mention: If you don't listen to Bob and Tom, you probably aren't familiar with the comedic genius of Heywood Banks. LOOK HIM UP ON YOUTUBE. IMMEDIATELY. This is NOT an option. Seriously, if you're still reading this blog, STOP!! Get thee to a Youtube page and Heywood Banks it up.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer et al

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Yeah, I'm having a Nerd-a-thon today. Buffy the Vampire Slayer followed by ANGEL followed by NUMB3RS. And then probably Scrubs. And Big Bang Theory.

All while I play Pokemon.

And I'm wearing my Gir sweatshirt.

11-11-11 is going to be fun.

Pokemon and Physics

Thoughts for today from Amber...

My weekend. Yeah, I spent all weekend on Pokemon (Platinum, for the DS) and my Physics project. Pokemon going well, but the Physics? Not so much... The stupid photoresistor stopped resisting about an hour into it. The whole thing is due this Thursday and it's not working. If I fail Physics, my life is OVER. (My dad's a physics teacher.)

Happy Halloween!

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Comments

Thoughts for today from Amber...

So, I'm wondering. How come every blog I look at has tons of followers, plus twenty-some comments per post, and I'm essentially keeping an online journal? It seems pretty senseless to me. If anyone is out there reading this, PLEASE MAKE YOURSELF KNOWN! Please?

New Discovery

Thoughts for today from Amber...
Okay, so today my dad bought me Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast, as he sometimes does. I got hot chocolate, like I always do. HOWEVER! The cashier lady told me that they'd just gotten a new kind of hot chocolate: the Peppermint Hot Chocolate. No extra charge, so I got that. And now, my tongue is burnt--probably won't be able to taste my lunch today-- but I CAN'T STOP DRINKING THIS STUFF!!! It's so delicious that I am actually sacrificing my tongue to keep tasting the epicness that is this peppermint hot chocolate.

Another Blog!

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Okay, do I have any bookworm fans out there? You should check out my other blog, Amber's Book-Related Whosits, for my reviews of various novels, etc. that I read over the course of the week or weekend. Please feel free to comment and tell me about what YOU'VE read, too! I can always use suggestions! :)

R.I.P Dan Wheldon

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Did you hear about the racecar crash in Vegas? A fifteen car pileup. One death: Dan Wheldon, who won the most recent Indianapolis 500. Wheldon was 33 years old and drove car number 77, and he was the first fatality in an Indycar race since 2006.

Lollipops and Blogging

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Hey, guys. So today I'm just sitting at my computer, typing away, while happily sucking on a lollipop. It is quite delicious. I'm probably going to be very hyper by lunchtime, when I plan to order a chocolate milkshake. Yeah, my sugar intake today is going to skyrocket. If I blog this afternoon, be ready for many exclamation points and capital letters. See ya then!

Classic Films

Thoughts for today from Amber...

As you may know, I am a film nut. I've been watching classic movies lately, particularly those still on that ancient device known as a VCR. Oh, yeah, baby-- I'm going old-school. Here's a few reviews of some of these movies that I've watched very recently.

Dead Poets Society: Very good film, right up to about ten/fifteen minutes before the end. Made me very angry, that ending, and I've been ranting about it to my family all morning. If you watch this film and don't want to be very mad at the end, I reccommend watching it until the end of the play (if you watch it you'll know when that is. I don't want to give anything away).

Dirty Dancing:  Excellent film! Great music, brilliant acting, and naturally I love Patrick Swayze, so there you go. Highly reccommend.

Real Genius: Very funny, bawdy humor. Easy to follow and not such a critical storyline that you can't do other things while watching it. I wanted to slap Chris Knight sometimes, but that only made it funnier to me.

Thoughts for today from Amber...

Ok, time to get scared. I have the SATs this Saturday. O.O Anybody out there done this already? Advice? Comfort? Please comment! I'm dying out here!

Thoughts on Blogging

Thoughts for today from Amber...
I often wonder if I'm keeping this blog going for no reason. I mean, I have a facebook now, and yet I still feel compelled to drop by here every now and again and add a post. I don't even have any followers, no matter how entertaining or amusing my entries are, and therefore I think all I'm doing is entertaining myself by adding a page to what is essentially an online diary. It's a little depressing, but still I press on.

Unicorns VS Zombies

Thoughts for today from Amber...
I have discovered a debate to put all other debates to shame. Not Crumpets VS Scones (which scones definately won), not Pandas VS Penguins (which pandas completely own), but Zombies VS Unicorns!!!! I'm including a link to the official site, and I'd like to say (for copyright infringement purposes) that I did NOT invent this one-- I just happened across a book about it. Follow the link!!!!!!

P.S.: Team Zombie!
